Mike Hartshorn
Logistics/Warehouse Manager
After Mike retired from a teaching career in 2012, he was looking for a volunteer opportunity to get involved with. His wife suggested attending a Christmas season fundraiser at Senor Grubby’s restaurant in Carlsbad. There he met Bill and Sue McLeod and was introduced to Got Your Back San Diego. A month later, he was delivering backpacks of food to in-need children. From there, he became more involved in a variety of jobs at GYBSD and as they say… the rest is history. Mike expresses that “it has been a fun, heartfelt ride with Got Your Back San Diego. I am blessed to be a part of this special group of enthusiastic, hard-working volunteers and this worthwhile organization.”
Mike and his wife Mindy, who has also volunteered at GYBSD over the years, together have raised four children and continue to enjoy them and their families, which includes five grandchildren. He is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista, part of an international service organization, that focuses its efforts to provide youth and community service around North San Diego County.
